A.I. Policy

At Type Design Class, we believe education should be created by people, taught by people, and based on real knowledge and experience.

We do not use A.I. to create our educational content. All course materials, videos, guidebooks, instructions and lessons are written, recorded and edited by humans. The knowledge, teaching methods and examples come from our own experience as type designers and educators.

We do occasionally use A.I. for a few supporting tasks:

Writing and communication

English is not our first language. We sometimes use A.I. to help rewrite emails and website texts, improve spelling, or make our writing clearer. The ideas, information and final decisions remain ours.

SEO and website optimisation

We sometimes use A.I. to review landing page text and identify opportunities to improve search engine visibility. Any suggested changes are reviewed, rewritten and edited by hand before publishing.

Privacy and personal information

We never share personal information, student names, company names, email addresses or other identifying details with A.I. models. Any such information is removed or redacted before text is submitted to an A.I. tool.

Transparency and accountability

We see AI as a supporting tool, not a replacement for human knowledge, creativity or judgment. We believe that learning how to make typefaces requires real instruction, practical experience and an understanding of the craft.
